BTEC Art and Design

North East Leeds City Learning Centre (CLC) and Carr Manor High School. My time at the CLC as Creative and Imagery Specialist provides me many opportunities for creative success and artistic development. It has enabled me to further establish myself as a competent researcher and as a specialist in my field. I aim to motivate and engage students so that they succeed. I achieve this by providing practical knowledge, creative inspiration, empowerment and a deeper understanding.

I have written, implemented and overseen the BTEC First Certificate in Art and Design course, (now in its 3rd successful year). The BTEC course is technologically advanced and based around inventive learning ideas, the focus of which is the multi-media approach of photography, graphic design and graphic art which blend with traditional skills and concepts. I feel that this non-traditional way of working more accurately reflects the talents and interests of the young students. My course has a 100% success rate, with 40% achieving distinctions and merits, 45% have actively pursued and being accepted to continue into a career in the visual arts. 'It is obvious that the students are thoroughly enjoying the course which is innovative, with well designed assignments which lead to an imaginative and exciting art and design process and outcome. While enabling and encouraging the students to be adventurous and take risks.'
